Charles Leclerc will be hoping to become the first Ferrari driver to win the Japanese Grand Prix title since 2004.

Most recent race

The Ferrari Driver Academy product secured a podium spot at the Australian Grand Prix on 24 March as he continued his good start to the 2024 season.

Leclerc started on the fourth grid and he managed to pass two cars which saw him finish second, and collect 19 points.

Formula One title ambitions

The Monte Carlo-born racing driver is now placed second on the World Drivers' Championship standings having accumulated 47 points from three races.

Leclerc is just four points behind leader, Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing as the two battle for this season's Formula One world title.

Why Leclerc could win the 2024 Japanese MotoGP

The 2017/18 FIA Rookie of the Year finished fourth in the first race of the 2024 season in Bahrain before finishing third in Saudi Arabia and second in Australia.

Leclerc will now look to continue his improvement by clinching the Japanese Grand Prix and becoming the first Ferrari driver to win the race since Michael Schumacher won it in 2004.

What did he say?

"It was a really good weekend for the team. We maximised our points and left nothing on the table, bringing home a 1-2 finish and the fastest lap," Leclerc said after the 2024 Australian Grand Prix.

"Carlos [Sainz Jr] did a solid job today. On my side, I had a good first stint and we managed to get ahead of Lando (Norris) during the pit stop. I struggled a bit with graining on my first set of Hards and had a stronger pace on the last stint on the second set of Hards, managing the gap to Lando.

"We’ve started out the season with three weekends in which we have made the most of our potential, which feels really good and is a testimony to all the hard work that our team has put in over the past months."
